Hennig Helps

Charitable giving has always been close to the hearts of two Goellner Inc companies, Hennig and Advanced Machine & Engineering. Lead by Willy and Irmgard Goellner’s example, who began giving back to the local community organizations more than 50 years ago, both companies are still strongly committed to charity work. We at Hennig feel fortunate to be able to have something more to give to the world than just our products and are very humbled by doing so.

Many charitable groups in the area benefit from these donations, from homeless shelters and food banks to medical organizations and associations. However, charitable giving is not only about financial resources, but also advocating for worthy causes. Hennig is a corporate sponsor of the annual ALS walk (in memory of Irmgard Goellner), we deliver food to the Rockford Rescue Mission, as well as mentor and donate the expertise and time of Hennig’s employees to name just a few.

Employee engagement and volunteering connects people to their work and the community and ultimately drives a happier, more productive and engaged organization. Community involvement goes deeper than just giving money or serving on nonprofit organization boards. It is moving closer to the core of what Hennig is as a company. Two of our core values are Servant Leadership and Compassionate Giving, which both mean having a purpose. We are not here just to make money as a business, but to be good corporate citizens in our community. It feels great to see those dollars at work doing good things for people in need. Hennig and AME support a total of 40 local charitable organizations, one of which is the Carpenter’s Place.

Carpenter’s Place was established in 2000 to provide a day-time center for homeless. Inspired by Christ’s compassion, it gives people the tools for rebuilding their lives by offering services such as case management, food, laundry facility, securing a stable housing, obtaining employment among many others. Currently, it serves on average 83 people daily.

On the first Friday of each month for the years 2018 and 2019, employees of Hennig and AME have been consistently donating their time during lunch serving food, purchased by Hennig/AME along with other Rockford organizations at the Carpenter’s Place.

With Christmas season in full swing, the need for food and a safe place to stay grows exponentially. On Friday, December 6, a Hennig crew consisting of Mandi Collins, Mark Schultz, Michael Bennett and Randy Olson served a lunch, purchased by AME in partnership with Pinnon’s and other local businesses.

We as a company plan to continue this work for the year 2020 and many years to come and encourage others to support local charities as well. A huge Thank You goes out to all employees and their families of Hennig and AME who have given their time in support of all of these well-deserved local charities.
