Rigidity is an important element to any sort of machine tool operation, especially when you're talking about workholding. That's why AME decided to put some science behind the testing of their tombstones.

Last time, we tested the vibration damping of our epoxy-mineral tombstones by setting them on the floor and testing with modal hammer and sensors. This time, we did testing while a machine was running - making chips in different materials and with different types of cuts.
